No frills but lots of thrills as Green Day has a blast

MUSIC GREEN DAY Rod Laver Arena, December 14, 15 Andrew Murfett Reviewer WHEN Green Day released their career-defining album American Idiot in 2004, the live shows they played to launch the record around the world were incendiary events. Their Melbourne show, in March 2005, was positively explosive. Five years on, they released a follow-up album, 21st Century Breakdown, which struggled to capture the imagination of the pop cultural landscape like its predecessor.
